Day 29, Friday, September 20th, 2019: Cacabelos to Las Herrerias
(Sorry for the thin post. Deep in a valley in Spain so not much cell reception for data, SquareSpace provides no off-line editing tools (who missed that one, SS?), and Albergue’s always have crappy WiFi. Beset by first world problems! Lol!)
With the threat of rain in the forecast for the afternoon, we left our Albergue at 6am and set off on a very long (18.6 miles) trek to the foot of the mountain, upon which rests the city of O’Cebreiro at 4,000 feet above sea level.
It was actually pleasant for such a long walk and with stops for breakfast and lunch, we still made it to our Albergue by 1:30 pm. Not bad for a couple of old farts! We also stopped by a few village churches and prayed for our family and friends.
We decided to eat dinner at lunchtime, so at dinner time we walked up to the stables as the owner was pasturing his horses for the night. These are the same horses we will be riding up to O’Cebreiro in the morning. We had heard from a friend that we could do that and booked them last week. Very much looking forward to an easier day tomorrow starting with a ride up the mountain!
P.S. it never did rain, but we expect that to change as we enter Galicia!

Getting closer to Santiago!
Good morning!
