Day 24, Sunday, September 15th, 2019: León to San Martin del Camino

Day 24, Sunday, September 15th, 2019: León to San Martin del Camino

Well it was back on the Camino again this morning, dark and early! It was nice to wake up to an Army win! Go Black Knights!

Today was pretty much an urban slog and not very remarkable. Just suburbs of León for most of the 16 miles. Shops and apartments and teens that had been up all night wandering about, smoking pot and being teens. Same the world over, eh?

Today’s “Camino Lesson:”  not every day can be outstanding or remarkable...and that’s just fine!  Days in our lives are probably more ordinary than extraordinary, and we take those just as they come as well.  Please remember they are all gifts from God.

After a breakfast stop in Valverde de la Virgen, we plodded on to the Albergue Peregrino Santa Ana in San Martin del Camino. Nice place with a double room and private bathroom out back with the turkeys and chickens! Had a lovely couple of beers and a bocadillo, then off for a nice long nap.

Peregrino dinner was at 7:30pm and we had a wonderful salad and chicken paella. We met two new friends, Max from Italy and Nicholas from a city near Madrid. The people on The Camino really are the best part of the experience.
