Day 32, Monday , September 23rd, 2019: Sarria to Mercadoiro
Nice breakfast buffet greeted us before departure, so we took our time and had coffee, toast with jam, juice, and a variety of sliced meats. Then it was off, and up, through the city of Sarria.
So we went up about 300 feet only to go down 400 feet to go back up 600 feet! Lol!
And so it went for about 4 hours. Lovely country, Galicia, but all the fields and pastures begin to look the same after a while.
Arrived at our beautiful Albergue Mercadoiro, and had a great lunch of octopus, cream cheese and salmon bocadillos, and guacamole and chips, along with a lovely bottle of Rioja.
Short, restful, and enjoyable day.
Yoday’s “Camino Lesson:” attitude matters. You can bitch and whine about a difficult task or you can “suck it up, princess” and, as we used to say “embrace the suck.“. The first option will ensure it sucks all day long. The second will acknowledge the suck early and then tackle the challenge. When “the suck” is a given, it ceases to be the focus.
