First day in Paris: The Eiffel Tower, lunch cruise on the Seine, and Uber Eats is everywhere!
The flight to Paris was 8+ hours, but quite literally flew by! We landed about 6:30am, did passport control to enter Shengen Zone, got our luggage and grabbed a cab to our hotel, Le Maison de Champs Elysees, a Marriott property in the middle of everything. They let us check in way early and we dropped our bags and headed to The Eiffel Tower, a short 20 minute walk away.
After a half hour wait to go through security (go early if you have a time stamped ticket!) we got in line for the ride to the top! The views were spectacular 906 feet above Paris! And it was a gorgeous sunny day as well, so we could see for miles. On our walk back, we stopped for a cafe creme and a croissant at the Brasserie de la Tour Eiffel along the Seine.
Having been awake going on 23 hours, we walked back to the hotel and freshened up. Then we were off again, walking along the Seine to the base of the Musée d'Orsay, where we boarded a lunch cruise on the river. What a treat! We cruised right past The Cathedral of Notre Dame, inaccessible as they work to repair the damage from the fire, the Eiffel Tower, and Paris’ mini Statue of Liberty.
That was enough fun for the day, and it was indeed time for a nap! I did manage to order French street food via Uber Eats to end a great first day in Paris!
Tomorrow, we are off to tour Monet’s house and garden in Giverny and the palace at Versailles. We are truly blessed to have this once in a lifetime adventure and thank Him every day for allowing this to be a part of His plan for us.
